Am feeling a bit flat - I have worked through the entire holidays (bar two long-ish weekends) so am art'd out.. On the positive side, I was working towards a joint exhbition with Pascale Chandler and Marianne Meijer for the KZNSA - opening on the 22nd February - so my agenda was set out and I was able to have fun and paint exactly what I wanted to paint! That's the best thing about contemporary art - there is no pressure from the consumer to produce work which might sell. It is very self-indulgent... And whilst all artist should paint from the heart (and paint exactly what they want to), there is a little pressure when one has a family to support... For the exhibition at the KZNSA I have chosen to paint Divers - the diving board kind - not under-the-sea kind... Don't ask where the idea came from cos despite being the artist I have absolutely no bloody idea myself. It was just there one morning when I woke up - Today I want to paint Divers!!!! And I have loved it... Now I wait and see if everyone else does....
Bibs, bobs and boring bits....
