Haven't done my blog for a while - days pass so fast they become weeks and then months... Last week (or was it the week before?) I had such a fun time - woke up early Sunday morning (not normally my fav time of day) and went off to the Durban Harbour where I went on a Harbour tour (on a boat thingie) with Garth, Terri and Alex. I took photo's - lots and lots... My daughter asked me if I was stressed after taking so many photo's cos then it meant I had a lot of work to do (i.e. paint them). I said the only thing that stresses me is that I might die before I get to paint them all. She couldn't understand that. I explained that when I was younger and I bought a new pair of shoes, I used to be afraid that I would die before I got a chance to wear them - that she understood ! After breakfasting at the harbour, met my friends, John and Ingrid Smith (see John's website - http://www.artistjohnsmith.co.za) and we went to the Durban Art Gallery to see the curent exhibition. It was amazing... Such an inspiration. The second photo above has a painting by Marianne Meijer - the black and white painting of a face. Very beautiful (and I am lucky enough to have one of hers at home). They are very Marlene Dumas like - but Marianne painted them first :)
Bibs, bobs and boring bits....
